MEMBERS IN ACTION

Hello {first},

What is in a year?

Well, to be honest, the last year has been a wild ride – particularly the last few weeks. I hope this message finds you and your family in good health.

I am writing to you today, as a Founding Member and part of the Creative Generation global community of supporters, ahead of our first birthday next week! On April 8, 2020, we will celebrate one year of inspiring, connecting, and amplifying the work of individuals and organizations dedicated to cultivating the creative capacities of the next generation – and we will, together, look toward the future.

We are all so thankful for your support in the past, and we welcome you to continue as a member of the Creative Generation community by making a contribution here.

Now, more than ever, our work is making a difference in the lives of people in communities around the world. Please, allow me to share some of our successes:

First – and most recently – we have responded with agility to the COVID-19 epidemic. We quickly developed and deployed a Fast Response Survey and published the findings in a blog focused on how funders can respond to support the field amidst the crisis.  Next, we launched the #KeepMakingArt campaign to inspire and support youth, educators & artists, parents, and organizations to keep making art despite the tremendous circumstances we are facing. At last count we have 200+ partners on all six continents, and we are reaching 1.25+ million on social media daily!

Second, the Campaign for a Creative Generation launched Campaign 2020: Arts and Cultural Education is a Fundamental, Civil, and Human Right in January. We have engaged constituents from 80+ nations, at a rate of approximately 1,000 website visitors daily, through our digital communications strategy. In total, we have published 40 blog posts, 21 newsletters, 83 Instagram posts, and on social media we reach over 4,000 people every day through Facebook and Twitter!

  • Third, we have presented at 20 regional or global conferences, providing learning opportunities for 1,500+ artists, educators, organizational leaders, and youth. Most notably, our work was featured at the World Youth Forum (Egypt) and the World Alliance for Arts Education (Germany). Just this week, we will begin to pilot our Gen C Academy, which has been developed in concert with our advisory committee and expects to roll out in 2021.

  • Fourth, we have supported programs around the world to catalyze creative community action. From the U.S. to South Sudan to New Zealand, working with artists and youth, the projects within the Gen C Incubator are reimagining the possibilities of creativity in communities.

  • Fifth, just today (!!) we have been recognized for our work as an Innovator by the International Teaching Artist Collaborative. Read more about this recognition and scope or work here.

  • Lastly, we have finalized all of our legal obligations in establishing our organizational foundations. A few months ago, we received our B-Corp status, which allows us to operate in public benefit to communities with fidelity to our mission. This means we now have a sophisticated finance and operations infrastructure!

There is no doubt that these efforts have had tremendous impact and we remain committed to this work and our principles, however, the current economic downturn resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic is taking its toll on our earned revenue. Would you be willing to celebrate our birthday by contributing to our future success?

You can contribute here at whatever level feels right to you.

As a member, you will be a part of our community of supporters who are dedicated to the global network of artists, educators, community leaders, and young people who are catalyzing creative community action.  Quarterly, we will send you a special, in-depth update on the status of our work. And, as always, our team is available to you at any time; you can reach us at info@creative-generation.org

I thank you, in advance, for your support. We look forward to continuing our work to cultivate the creative generation.

My best,

Jeff M. Poulin
